SAAS is a private, independent organization that depends on fees, grants, donations, and fund-raisers to operate.
Each year the community comes together and volunteers and/or donates items for our biggest fundraising event, the Silent Auction. This is always the last Saturday in January and the Mayor of Ruidoso has now proclaimed that day Ski Apache Adaptive Sports’ Day!
Other events like the Grindstone Trails Run in July and Tracy’s Corner in August give proceeds to SAAS. On the mountain, Ski Apache is extremely generous with giving $1 of every sight seeing gondola ride to SAAS.
While we work hard at applying for grants, we solicit financial support and are grateful to all who give in-kind or actual cash donations. Many individuals and groups have donated generously to Ski Apache Adaptive Sports, and we are extremely appreciative. Below is a picture of the Donor Wall that hangs outside of the SAAS office listing our supporters.
If you would like to donate, thank you. Our mailing address is: P.O. Box 2138, Ruidoso, NM 88355. Or, take advantage of the convenience of our new Donate button on this page of the website.
The lift operators go out of their way to make it safe for our students! A big thanks to Ski Apache!

Attention: This year’s Silent Auction will be on January 27, 2018, at the Ruidoso Convention Center from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Don’t miss the social event of the season. Save the date, and come join the fun. If you would like to donate an item, please contact us at 575.464.3193.
While large equipment items are purchased through grants and individuals donors, we always can use more of the following consumable types of supplies:
A huge “Thank you!” to ALL the people and businesses who help with our program in so many ways: making connections, asking for donations, giving donations, and spending time and money to make our program a success.

Ruidoso’s Ski Shops support our program through equipment donations, referrals, and good will. SAAS would like to recognize the following ski shops for “above the call of duty” in helping SAAS survive and progress:
Alto Ski Shop: Don Damron and Jody Damron have been huge supporters of SAAS for years, serving as officers and directors and giving vital help with our Silent Auction. The ski shop is a fun place to visit and is often the gathering place we use to discuss matters.
Wild West Ski Shop: The crew at Wild West provides skis and snowboards for many of the program’s students and teachers who could not otherwise afford rentals. Karen and Ron have both worked in the program and served as officers and directors on the board in the past. Thanks to Wild West!
Ski Ruidoso: Danny Wimberly outfitted many skiers from the Roswell School District “School to Ski” life skills program. The new Ski Ruidoso has moved next door to the “old” Ski Ruidoso (more room!).
Rocky Mountain Sports Shop: Riker and Cindi Davis offer equipment to our students for free except at the busiest dates during Christmas and Spring Break. Check out their cabins and homes too for places to stay.
Ski Apache Rental Shop: thanks to Ski Apache for outfitting our group programs during the weekdays in January and February. Travis, Bart and Daniel and the rest of the crew are patient, efficient and guest centered.
Thanks to all for your expertise as ski techs! Your contribution allows us to do what we do best; teach!
